I have a 1984 z28 with the 5.0 HO l69 and i was just wondering what the normal operating temp idle is supposed to be mine is 500 rpm and i think it needs to be higher because droppoing that low makes my battery gauge go down but when you barely hit the gas the guage will go back up.

Re: Idle

comp controlled to 600-650 in drive/reverse. 800-900 in park/neutral is healthy. You'll have to press the gas in lightly for starting if in a cold area.
