Vacuum leak. What is this???
Hi there...I have a vacuum leak on one of my wires that goes on to the thermostat housing on my engine...
I know this has something to do with the emission system but the names on the sensors and valves is confusing me
Anyone know what this sensor and wires/hoses is called???
I have a Code 44 on my car..Could this be the fault???
Please answer anyone..
Alex

If the emission sticker is still under the hood and readable they usually have the vacuum diagram on them

Should be on the hood itself. But, there's always the good ol' FAQ forum https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/faq-...-diagrams.html
I believe that is the EFE TVS (Early Fuel Evaporation Thermal Vacuum Switch). Goes to the valve on the passenger side exhaust manifold.
Code 44 is oxygen sensor lean. It could be related to that vacuum leak, but that's a pretty small leak to cause a lean condition that the computer can't compensate for. Code 44 usually means you need to replace your O2 sensor.

Fix the leak, then. A little hard to tell from your photo, but I believe the broken line is the vacuum source, meaning you're always letting excessive air into the intake manifold.
Wouldn't be the first time that a replacement O2 sensor was faulty, though. I don't hear good things about the Bosch replacement O2 sensors for GM applications.

Yeah...that's is excacly my plan...lol
Do you know any sites that's sells emission parts???
I know the photos is not good but you are right about that the intake manifold is getting to much excessive air in it...
Checked with my finger on the hose and I can feel the vacuum even if it is just a little leak...

All you really need is to connect the hose to the thermal vacuum switch, so you don't have to keep the rubber connector that has both vacuum lines in it as long as you get the right line going to the right nipple on the switch.
