Car cranks awhile before start?
My car has been progressively starting harder over time. When it finally starts it runs rough for about 15 seconds until it's idle smooths out. Today it just cranked over awhile. It finally started after I had cycled through it several times. I thought I heard my fuel pump cycle on so I thought it was the relay. I have good voltage at the relay. I swapped the relay with one next to it and the same problem occured. I think the pump is going bad but just wanted a little input from you guys before I drop everything.
Thanks

Hard to say much without knowing anything about what kind of car and engine you're talking about.

Sorry, I have a 86 Trans Am with the 305 TPI motor. I forgot to mention it also threw a code 54. To high or to low voltage reading at the fuel pump I believe.

My car was giving me fits in mid summer. Replaced the whole ignition system, ran some FI cleaner though it. Scanned and scanned, nothing helped. Now that fall is here it's starting and running perfect. I'm thinking summer blend gas doesn't agree with the old TPI?

I sorta did, the problem all of a sudden went away and it started fine. This summer it came back again. I verified everything was working correctly and the only thing I came up with is the connection at the top of the tank must be loose a little bit or it needs to be cleaned up a little. I cleaned the connector at the rear of the car, I have a good relay and the fuel pump is fine so this is all I can think of.
