!.6 Rockers? Work after head change
Guys,
I am looking into buying 1.6 Rockers for my l98. If I buy self-aligning now will they work on a non-self aligning style head later on? Would I have to remove the guideplates on whatever heads I purchase or would I just have to buy new rockers? Don't want to spend 250 now and have to again later.
Thanks

They would be fine. I don't believe you would need to remove the guideplates but it probably would be a good idea.

Hi,
Think that when you remove the guide plates it would be advisable to put some rings under the studs with the same thickness, to maintain the stud height.
From AFR I did goat the next recommendation:
Never combine guide plates with self aligning rockers.
I would advice to check the rockers that are from the so call "Narrow Type" because those fit the standard valve covers, don't need the tall ones.
Don't need to cut the inner reinforcing of the center bolt tubes. It just fit.
I have the Scorpion Narrow Type, because that was advised by AFR.
I hope this help!

Thx Guys,
Yeh the scorpions were the ones I was looking at. I figured on the spacers once I removed the guideplates. Very helpful indeed, once again TGO rocks.

Your going to love having RRs on your motor. Im running stock center bolt valve covers as well with a set of Star 5011 1.6's http://www.starperf.com/tabloid/page_40.htm.
I forgot to pick up a narrow version, but instead tossed these on, and the convers bolted right on, with no rubbing on the rockers
This is my 3rd motor that I have swapped to full roller rockers, and you WILL be able to tell that you did this. The motor spins so much more freely, not to mention the power gain that is again actually noticeable.
