hey guys i got a bit of an issue, it all started once i put my ford injectors in but i ruled those out by putting my gm ones back in and same problem, it has progressed from running rich and spitting out the back, form throwing code 32,33,34 and 36 (their gone now). then it went to starting right up then dieing right away, and would die quicker if given gas, it ran when i put fuel in the manifold. to now it wont start at all. i have done fuel flow test and tested for spark and its all there, when i crank the motor fuel pressure is bang on there is spark, i have tried everything that i can think of with no success can anyone offer me any insight as to why it wont start. i need to get her back on the road ASAP had this problem for 2 weeks now

Are the injectors firing while the motor is cranking? What is the PSI at the fuel rail? If it is too high or too low the injectors will not fire. Also be sure to check the fuel pressure regulator.

the injectors are all fireing while the car cranks, the pressure at at 48psi while cranking, regulator is new, i have done fuel flow from the filter and the return line at the rail just to make sure of things. All the spark is there, sounds like she wants to start but just wont

did you play with the timing? leave any wires unplugged

you should test the injectors with a test light during cranking or you can even feel the injectors clicking if you dont have access to a light but that isnt the best way as sometimes you wont really be able to tell sorta like if you dont feel any clicking at all you know they arent working and it is probably wiring but if just one or 2 arent the others will probably cover it up



but if you have SPARK and FUEL you will get ignition as long as they are properly timed so i am going with you dont have the timing even close

what would be a good way to check for timing or to adjust it, i cant get the car to start, i have been starting to think that it is timing related but i dont know why because i have not tampered with the distributor or anything like that. if it were timing related and thats the reason for starting not what should i do to adjust it and get it to start?

THEN DON'T START NOW!!! Leave it alone. The "timing" doesn't just jump off in the ozone all of its own accord, just out of sympathy for the old injectors that just got turfed or something. All that you'll accomplish by wanking on the distributor, is to mess the motor up some more, and create extra work for yourself, and make it that much harder to get the car to start even when you DO find the true culprit (which the "timing" isn't).

Try a new set of spark plugs.

Don't argue about "they're new", "only have 2,000 miles on them", etc. If you haven't REPLACED them (not "cleaned", not "looked at", not "checked", but "replaced") since you put the too-large injectors in the motor and fouled them, then they're fouled. (duh) Just change them out and see what happens. Won't be the first time a set of plugs has got ruined by someone upsetting the injectors.

i thought it was a reaction of some sort but got wose with gm ones back in go figure. my plugs are black so i may as well try a new plugs. any recomendations for a good plug and what should i gap them at stock or different since i got those bigger injectors in?

got some new plugs and now she runs, when i first started it she blew out tons of black smoke but now she buns clean clean, to get it going now i when i start it i need to keep on the gas for a bit, with the intake duct taken off and then after about 30 sec she will idle perfectly on her own any ideans to solve this? thanks

Amazing how that works sometimes.

Tons of black smoke = cyls loaded up with too much fuel

What injectors are in it? If they're the stock ones, then you're good to go now. If they're the others, you probably need some chip work. Although, maybe just lowering the fuel pressure back to stock or maybe even less, might bring it back into a workable range.

ok so i got some codes back again, i got 33 and 36 but i have my maf unplugged right now the new code i got is code 42(poor electrical connection, open or short in curciut, defective ignition module ; defective ecm). i been running the car for a bit today and its runs great doesnt miss idles soooooooooooooo much better than before. my beef with the car right now is that it doesnt want to go any faster than 60KM/H. i have adjusted the tv cable like my hanyes manual said so and it shifts out of first np but but hard shift tho. and second if i really floor it sometimes will shift out or almost like it wants to. Any ideas on code 42 and the shifting problem? thanks
