PROPER TIMING FOR CC LG4!
I have an 86 LG4 Camaro that has a 350 with 305 heads with a mild cam, headers, 3000 stall and 4.10 gears. Just wondering what people are running for base timing or total timing.
Thanks Frank

Still running the computer controlled carb and distributor?
If so, the stock base setting of 0* is probably not going to work so well with that combo. The timing for a stock LG4 is pretty weak all the way across the board- I'm guessing for emissions reasons, but it works becuase the stock LG4 cam is so dreadfully tiny. The minute you replace that with anything remotely "performance" oriented the retarded timing curve of the stock LG4 usually makes it run fairly crappy. I'd start at 6* BTDC initial and go (probably up) from there.
Honestly, even an off-the-shelf "performance" chip will give a much more aggressive timing curve than the stock LG4 chip and would and will probably work better than just jacking up the base timing using a stock LG4 chip.
