milling 4416 heads
im getting ready to disassemble a good running complete LG4(pre-'85 dished) and i was looking into milling the heads down in order to bump up the compression ratio in it, since i cannot find any stock L69 or 85-up LG4 flat pistons
how much would i need to mill the 4416 heads to get the CR up to or close to the 9.0 or 9.2 that the L-69 were ?
is it even possible to ?
or should i wait til i locate a set of flat pistons ?
thanks

I think you'd have to mill them pretty far, like down to 50cc or so. Might make you need to mill the intake, and that's really hard to justify on a 305 build.
I'd try to find 305 flat tops (well, actually i'd wonder why I was rebuilding a 305 in the first place, but that wasn't your question so i'll leave that be)...
Is it the stock bore? Then you should be able to find stock style pistons for an '84 L69 sorta thing.

hi ther eyes its stock bore and stock everything else, completely, it also still has the factory thin steel shim head "gaskets"
it looks like milling the heads down is not the way to go on this particular engine
and that finding flat top pistons is the way to go
it runs strong and smooth out here on a gas can and radiator and battery connected to it and with open 70s 350 manifolds, but then its only running the w/p and alternator and open exhaust, and no fan or p/s or anything else,
almost any engine can seem to run strong like that lol
thanks
