Where to set timing

Transmission: Rebuilt 700R4,vette servo,2200stall
Axle/Gears: 2.73 Posi
Where to set timing
i have a 85 lg4 with a elderbrock performer and a non cc qjet, hedmen headers and 3" flowmaster exhaust and i have my timing at 12*btdc i was wondering if this was a good spot for the most power it seems ok here but i want to know if theres a better spot i had it on 8*btdc but changed it

As long as you have a non-CC distributor and are setting the timing at idle with the vacuum advance disconnected, that's a good place to start.

ya i got a non cc dist.. it runs pretty good just loking for some more power

I'm running 12 degrees on our car and it's worked well there. We're running the torker manifold and street avenger carb, Lunati cam with regular hei ignition. Take off just blows with the 2:73 gears, if you're looking for more power, that's a direction you might want to look.
