should i buy it
i have the chance to buy a 400 sbc out of a 72 police car the owner rebuilt it
he told me he put keith black pistons in it roller rockers and a bunch of performance parts in it he has the dyno sheets for it it said the car has 473 or 483 horse power it has been in his truck for only 2 months but now he is going to jail so he asked me to buy the motor off him for $800 i dont know to much about engines so do you guys think that i should buy it thanks

Get more details? DOes it come complete with ignition and induction system? What cam, heads, intake, rockers does it have? Cna you get a compression test before getting the engine?
If the engine is in a car, and you can take is for a spin, by all means do. Also check the sparkplugs and the exhaust pipe.
