small scratch on crank journal

Ok I had to put a new crank kit in my 350 due to bent crankshaft. This was a completely new build and was caught before any damage. So I had alot of problems installing the new crank w/top end all still together but I finally got it. Problem is I noticed I scratched the crank journal where #4 connecting rod goes. My question is HOW BAD IS THIS? And what are my options other than taking crank back out and having machine shop grind it down? I guess this is how you get experience huh?

If it's a really light scratch you might be able to just polish it out.

A couple of pieces of 3/8" hose on the rod bolts will keep that from happening again.

Ya I know, I had little rubber pieces on all the pistons, but one fell off and didn't know it until too late. I'm not sure how to tell if its really light or deep. I can feel it and its probably about 1/4" long. How would I polish it. And what will happen if its too deep and I run it?

If you can feel it then it's probably too deep to be polished out. Running it like that will destroy the bearing in fairly short order.
