Choosing the right cam for a blower...

I am currently using a production LT4 cam with my Weiand 142. I think this was too conservative even for me. I sent CompCams a cam recommendation form. I mentioned that this is a daily driver (unless it snows), 350 with a desired RPM range of idle-5500, has A/C and stock converter. I want to stick with my worked over L98 heads using the Comp 983 valve springs.

They sent me back the NX276HR, 224/236 @ .050, .502"/.520" 113°. I'm sure this would provide the most power on a dyno, but somehow I don't think it's going to like the daily driver, stock converter, the heads or the A/C part. So really they didn't help me all.

I looked into some of the Xtreme 4x4 cams as they have lift close to but not over .500", and 111° LSA.

Any input here?

that does seem abit big... how much boost are u running? and how much power do you want to have? for a daily driver i would think your looking for fairly mild stuff

i would think a stock style cam is a good choice. else something in the 210/220 range.

Lingenfelter makes a 215/220 blower cam with .500/.510 lift with 1.5 rockers

Have had great success using Crane cams #113801 HMV278 Hyd flat tappet
with that blower. 278-290-222-234-.467-.494 114LSA very very simular to the comp NX cam. Works ok with a stock converter. Ok with brakes and AC. The power band is just right. Easy performance idle. A sweet street cam wether N/A or blown. I recommend that cam.
Crane makes a Power max hyd roller #119701 Grind Number: HR-222/345-2S-12.90 IG is a nice roller cam version. Just right for you.
Same same... same as the comp NX cam.
Check with crane cams to get the right cam core for your motor but the grind is right.
these are not too wild.
if you want something a little milder. Pick one with same Wide 112-114LSA but 10Deg less @.050"

That would be crane#119821 Grind Number: HR-276-2S-12 IG falls right inbetween the LT1 cam and the comp recomended NX cam.
Again check with crane cams by phone or email to get the right cam core for your year of engine block.

with 113°LSA it should drive fine...also Blowers tend to tame cams a bit

yea, especially a roots style.
224/236 isn't big, that's the xe268 with a tad wider exhaust, and the wider LSA. the wider LSA will tame the idle. I think that'll work fine.

that roller cam f-bird mentioned would also work nice, it's a smidge smaller (just a smidge), and would probably work just great.
