Performance Pullys

Ok...I've done a bit of research and have found out that alluminum pullys can cause recharging problems and what not...was just wondering if they would be any good on my pretty much stock 305 HO...thanks.

You would have to get the other pulley for the alternator which would be smaller in size to keep the alternator spinning at a relatively normal speed. The March pulley setups have the option of the alternator pulley with their sets. I think its like 2% smaller in size to compensate.

I have the march performance pulleys. You want the power and amp.The only reason I have the performance pulleys is that I have no radio or ac and yes it will usually have charging problems with ac on and running the radio. For me it is ok but I wouldn't run them on a car with ac and a radio but somepeople still do.As for power it might get 5hp max out of that 305ho in the very top end. When I went from the L69 to the zz4 I decided to change a few things after I had the motor in for 6 months.I ran a be cool radiator setup with electric fans, edelbrock aluminum water pump, march undrive pulleys. The power differnce was a little bit noticable when driving especially in the top end.I went to the dyno and I went from 264rwhp to 271rwhp and gained about 12rwtq also. Most of that was more than likely from the electric fan and not the underdrive pulleys.I recently had the car dynoed about 8 months ago and got 275rwhp and another 3ftlbs of torque to the rear wheels by adding 1.5 roller rockers. This I didn't feel an actually power differnce though.I would do things like make sure you have headers and exhaust, intake, maybe some 1.6 rollers for the 305 with the lift if the springs will handle it.Headers and exhaust will make a big difference on that motor. On the monte ss board a guy with a stock L69 and edelbrock headers and catback made almost 25rwhp with that mod.But yes it will make maybe 2-5hp difference at the flywheel and you will not feel the difference.Invest in those things last.Make the motor breath better first.

The big difference I noticed was the fact that the motor seemed to rev a little faster.Probably from less drag from the combo. of the pulleys and electric fan.

By the way if your tranny and rear are stock you should have 3:73 gears and a 700r4 tranny.

I have the march 3 piece set, just the regular ones and my car almost never charges at idle, but when you hit the gas it will. I never let the car sit too long. It gave a little more power, but I has almost everything else done first.

I have used only the lighter weight crank pulley before on other vehicles I have modified ( not my camaro...yet ) and I did notice a little difference especially on the top end and it did rev a lot easier as well.
