Looking for opinions on a budget carb 350 build

I'm helping build an engine for a friend, we currently have the long block, a set of 601 305 heads, Performer RPM intake, Crane Energizer 284H cam, and a holley 650 vacuum secondary carb. The plan is to port the heads ALOT, gasket match and clean up the intake, run Rhoades lifters, 1 5/8th long tubes with dual 2.5's, through a th350 and a set of 3.73's and as much nitrous we can get away with. I'm just looking for opinions, tips or suggestions on this motor. He's shooting for low 12's in a 3400lb car and I think we can get there on the squeeze. Thanks in advance guys.

Put the 284H camshaft and Rhoads lifters back in their boxers and sell them to someone else.

Get this camshaft. Crane F278-2 #113841. and solid lifters. It will be less noisey, rev higher more street friendly and make more power on and off the juice. its a good juice cam.
This is a "street" solid cam and will not be a pain to maintain. It's "just right" for you.

use Lunati 73943 springs or equivelent Like crane 99846 or Isky 235D. Shim them up if nessesary to get 120LBS seat pressure. Drill and pin the rocker studs. use 1.94x 1.60 valves. Manley recommended.
Pull the pistons out the long block and increase the ring end gaps (expecily the top ones) for nitrous. Bigger is better.
Typical recomended ring end gaps are too tight, they will hot butt on a big N2O shot. this is usually why piston fail on N2O.
.026 to .030" is good. With Nitrous think Ignition retard and racing gas for any thing over 200hp. use cold non projected tip plugs. like champion RV8C or colder.
Don;t be shy with the porting. I prefer the 416's myself.
Watch the plugs for lean cylinders on the juice with the dual plane manifold. may have to stagger jet the carb.
You'll need this set of spring seat shims Comp #4753
Could use 1.6in /1.5ex split ratio rocker arm set. You can buy them like this from many supplyers like Summit or split two sets with a friend. Elongate the intake pushrod slot on the heads toward the stud if you go with 1.6's. I do this by hand with a 5/16" rat tail file cut of in a electric drill.
