Car Still Running Trashy...Next Step...
Well as some may have read before, I was having issues with my car running very poorly after a Comp XR270HR-10 and Brodix IK200 Head swap on my 350 Speed Density TPI. I also had PCMforless burn me a chip.
I am getting poor idle, stalling, missing, backfiring, shuddering, hesitating, bogging, no power at all. So I adjusted the IAC and TPS to spec, and they are both in order. I am getting a code thrown at me as soon as the car starts up, but when I jump the ALDL connector A to B, I get no error code. I have checked, rechecked and rechecked vacuum line routing and quality, everything is perfect. I got new plug wires and are routed away from the headers, no burn-through.
I cant think of much more except for that my buddies dad lashed my valves too tightly and this is messing things up. That is going to be my next step in figuring this out. It'll have to be the messy way with valve covers off and motor running because it'd be too hard to turn over the motor by hand at this point. My question to you is, what else could be causing said problems in first paragraph? I thought that my distributor was put in correctly, all the marks lined up...if I messed this up, could these instances be occuring?

get some oil deflectors if you're going to relash while running. I only ran mine without valve covers on for 30 seconds, I think if I did the valve lash i'd have to oil left in the motor once I was halfway done...
I'd say it's the chip. Computer controlled motors scare me that way.

Well, I went ahead and re-lashed the valves statically according to the procedure in my Haynes manual (although I turned the nut about 1/3 turn after zero lash instead of the 3/4 they suggest, since I have heard 3/4 is over-doing it), but I am still having the same problem...nothing has changed.
Anyone know where I should start looking next?

Sounds like you have multiple problems. Check all of your plug wires to be sure they are on the right cylinders and check for vacuum leaks.
You need a scanner/scantool of some kind to see what the motor is doing. It should be running decent, maybe rich until the ve tables get adjusted.
Borrow or buy a scan tool so that you can send your chip burner some data so he can tweak the chip. It is impossible to get it right without feedback from the ecm.

Alright, I'm going to order a USB ALDL cable and download Datamaster. Will I get all the information I will need from this in terms of what the motor is doing?
