So what do I buy now?

Alright now that I have gotten my car running.. I want more performance *of course*. This is what I've got:

1979 354 4-bolt main.
Performer rpm intake manifold.
Ported stock heads.
Im picking up a holley 750 double pumper off a guy for 150 bucks.
headmen headers.
shift kit installed on the 700-r4

Compcams xe-262-h:
218 intake 50
224 ex 50
462 lift
469 ex
110 lobe seperation

So what do I do now? I know my heads are my bottleneck as of now but those are really expensive.

Should I look into buying a turbo and running like 4 lbs of boost? Or maybe even a no2 fogger plate for my carb.

Im on a budget.. about 150-230 a week. So gettign the cheap stuff out of the way is idealistic.

Im thinking about rear end gears.. The ones I have now are stock, I dont know what they are. I want to get some 3.73's or maybe even go a little bit further and get 4.10's

opinions?

find out what gears you got.

a turbo is not cheaper than a good set of aftermarket aluminum cylinder heads, nor is nitrous when you factor in what it'll take to upgrade the fuel system and ignition system. you can garuantee $1000+ on just fuel system and ignition upgrades for running any kind of serious nitrous.

once you get some nice heads (AFR's are my choice) then get you a bigger cam.

pull the cover off the differential (the oil probably needs to be changed in it anyway, 80W-90) and count the teeth on the ring gear and divide it by the teeth on the pinion gear.

Damn, at least some people around here know how to do it right!

You *can* get the RPO code from under the center console lid but that only tells you what was in the car when it rolled out of the factory 20 years ago. Its probably had 5 different rear ends by now...

which "stock" heads are you running? lot of room to upgrade there, don't have to go to $$AFR$$.

The heads are goodwrench 350 heads.. They came off my old engine which was a goodwrench 350 crate. Piece of crap hecho en mexico bs.

Today was the first day I actually drove my car with the new engine, shifts kinda funny and doesnt have that punch when you nail the gas, kinda bogs. Im pretty sure I need smaller jets in the carb and I need to properly adjust my kickdown cable. I blew a transmission line while pulling into my driveway.. piece of rubber hosing blew *small maybe 4 inch piece of tube, no big deal" but it was a P.I.T.A to clean up!!!!!

The heads.. I gasket matched the intake ports and slightly opened up the exhaust more.. there is a lot more room to play with but I didnt spend much time on them.

Before I get insurance/registration ill find out what gears I have and replace the fluid, how many quarts of 80w-90 am I going to need?

get 2 bottles, you'll use about 1.5 of them.
