You are changing the intake gasket and you don't know what the rotor is? Well, good for you because its really not that hard and most would be scared in your position. Anyways the rotor is the plastic piece on the very top with the little metal strip in it that "points" to the wire terminals. You can either remove it with the distributor still in or remove the whole thing at once (and then replace the rotor if need be). To remove the distributor you just need to remove the hold down clamp that bolts into the manifold right under the distributor, then pull up on the distributor. It might take a little force, but theres nothing to it.

Mark its position relative to the rest of the distributor, and get it close when you reinstall. Then use a timing light to fine tune the timing.

Well done you.

What colour is the smoke? And when does it smoke, only on start-up and deceleration, or all the time? Blue smoke is oil, and all the time would suggest piston rings or something equally nasty. If it only smokes on start-up you might have shot your valve stem seals.

And if its white, then thats water. And you will probably need a new head gasket. Its sometimes hard to tell the difference between the blue and white though.

its definitly white... But the oil isnt contaminated like people are suggesting (you know the milkshake affect?) hmmm....

PS. Changing those gaskets was a Royal PITA!!!! Probably because I had no experience.. lol If I had to do it again It would take 3 hours if that instead of 6 and 1/2. Oh and I was amazed it still ran!

Well then check your water to see if it looks funny. It is possible that you are only leaking between your cylinder and a water sleeve, but if you were then your water would catch a lot of exhaust fumes and gasoline. And you would be running rough as well.
