What does valve float sound like?

wow, this might be even the most unique question i've ever seen on the boards but it stands.

I assumed i had good enough springs for 7000rpm with my cam.

234/244 duration @.050, .520/.544 lift...

Well only while under load, the motor makes a small high pitches rattling noise, i assume its the motor atleast, sounds to be coming from the engine bar.

Usually you'll only hear it on the 2-3 shift as 1-2 hits at 5500rpm, and 2-3 waits till 6000rpm.

its a very low level, high pitched rattle sound. Very hard to describe.

Would this sound like valve float?

sounds more like preignition or knock to me, try a change in timing or octane.

Ditto. You will really know when you have valve float.

ok yeah the car was still pulling like there was no tomorow, even at 6k but that rattle made me wonder... I still smoked that LS1...

I just got an MSD ProBillet Distributor so, i'll be fixing my timing curve...

What would be my best way, knock would be from timing too far advanced, dont think my timing was way too far advanced, and i only run 93 octane.

I run 13* at idle with a stock HEI, and let it rip its full mechanical afterwards. Guess it throws too far... I'll find out soon enough...
