engine rattle during warmup

i have this rattle snake sounding rattle comming from my eng bay during WOT only when warming up or sometimes WOT'ing her at a light not always though
the sound dissapperars after warmup

could it be the EFE rattleing? (carb warmup assist on exhaust manifold) god i hope its not a valve issue....

Most likly piston slap. Here's an easy fix. Dont WOT until it's warmed up.

I had a similar sound at warm up and intermittant at idle. I pulled the intake and found bearing residue all over the lifter valley. Nothing good to report after that, hope your case is'nt as bad as mine was. Good luck.

she runs perfect at idle and at crusing no noises then ive found nothing to indicate internal engine component failure its only noisy when under heavy load during the inital few mins of runtime in gear or if im at a light sometimes i can hear the rattle slightly but other thatn that the noise is gone

Honestly, you shouldnt be throttling or loading the engine hard before shes warm. Youd be lucky if it didnt develop internal issues if you have a tendancy to push it too hard while cold all the time.

As far as your issue goes, does the engine shake or vibrate more cold than warm? My car has an exhaust manifold guard that one of them is missing the mounting tab for one end. When its cold, it rattles against the manifold until it smoothes out a little more once warm. Though, I think that this sound would probably do it from time to time even after its warm. Other than checking for loose components around the engine bay, maybe drop your oil filter and cut it open and see if there is anything in there. Its a good idea to do from time to time anyway.

i only wot her when needed to pull out into local traffic other then that i never wot her in warm-up its bad mileage and for vibrationwise i get more vibration at cold then warm thats due to high idle till it adjusts then the vibration is gone and i did the oil filter test i have no metallic material in the filter , no material on magnetic drain plug and even checked compression i have almost perfect compression for a car with 108k slight drops but not concidered a loss i did have a rattle as well on the manifold guards i bent them back slightly and the rattle dissappeared but see heres another thing i can do like 4'g in park and this " rattle" wont appear its only under load in gear not park

Possibly in drive train then...down car somewhere but soudns like its up front? Take a look at the exhaust and make sure its not hiting anything, maybe look at the driveshaft and tranny for any kind of reference marks showing rattle. Id almost have to hear it or see it myself beyond that. Hopefully you find it...let us know if/when you do.

If nothing in the exhaust is phyiscally hitting, possibly the catalytic converter? Sometimes when they come apart inside they can make noise before actually plugging up the exhaust...
