Well I just drove my 84 TA on a 67 mile trip I used 2.3 gallons of gas that is 29.1 mpg..... That seems to be too high, but a I filled it up exactly each time squeazing in up to the neck.. Its an L69 305, T5 3.73 rearend... I babied it and drove 55 to 60 mph the whole way. It has 40,300 miles on it with a new cap rotor plugs and wires slp headers and y pipe flowmaster catback.. oh well I am happy with it even though its not that fast is sounds good and it fun to drive..

Sounds like you're getting pretty good mileage to me. I had a hard time getting mileage that good with my L98 GTA. Just about never, actually.
I have a hard time believing anyone is getting 28mpg, at least with a 3rd gen. I could get that out of my LS1 Formula on the highway, but that was with a M6. In 6th gear, it barely turned 2000rpm at 80mph. During everyday driving, I got about what you're getting now.

there are a few that might be able but most of them are 4 cylinders or 6 cylinder motors
though I think a few reputable members have gotten close to that with some good tuning in the ECU to lean out the mixture a tad at hwy cruise speeds

19 and 22mpg??? WTF? I get only 14mpg street OR highway (1984 Trans Am stock L69, auto 700R4, 3.73:1 gears, stock everything except flowmaster exhaust.) My torque converter isnt locking, but still, my mileage is way too low

Re: Miles per Gallon
Well, after messing with my timing a bit, installing a new ignition, plugs, plug wires, re-setting my cruise (84's have the dumbest cruise set up I've ever seen), and changing most of my vacuum lines, I'm finally nailing 22mpg on the highway at 65 and 18 around town. Oh yeah, AND I fixed a leaky fuel pump. I probably lost a gallon over a tank from that thing.

Yes, you definitely have a problem. Those are the kind of MPG numbers I'd expect to see out of a stroker....

Re: Miles per Gallon
I expect the day that I finally drop in my 355 that my gas mileage will take a dump.
Right now, I drive it every day because well...I get better MPG than my truck does. ...and it's a 2006! haha That and it's a lot more fun to drive.

Re: Miles per Gallon
I get 10.5 mpg if I'm lucky. I got 11.75 mpg, but it wasn't very fun that tank. And I have a stock L03. It's bad.

Re: Miles per Gallon
I've got a 91 305 in my 86 Z-28 with 600 edelbrock and performer, 700r4, 2:73 rear. I'm averaging 15-16+ in the city. Haven't had it on a highway in a long time. Gas was almost $3.00 and I was thinking about selling but gas came back down a bit $2.69. And it something breaks I can fix it without using a computer.
