stripped weight?
fellas, what would you estimate the stripped weight of a 92 camaro RS 305 to be? IOW, what all can I remove and how much weight can i save. i'm not talking about going into frame and replacing suspension components for lighter weight ones, yet.... this is a future drag car (brackets) most likely, so about all the creature comforts can go.
stock weight is around 3200 I guess, with T-tops and everything stock in car. if i can get the weight down to around 2500-2700 easily ???? i might drop something kind of mild in there for now til i can afford a better build up this winter or later.

Stock weight for most third gens is closer to 3500 pounds depending on the options.
Mine is a completely stripped down drag car. Fiberglass hood, all the glass has been replaced with Lexan including the T-tops. No interior. It can never be made street legal again. Anything not required for speed, safety or the operation of the vehicle is gone. With an aluminum head BBC and a full roll cage, race weight which includes driver, fuel etc, is around 3000 pounds. There's very little I can remove to reduce the weight any more. The next step would be to get some fiberglass doors. I'd love to have a race weight closer to 2800 pounds.
I never care what the car weighs by itself because it never operates without a driver. I estimate my weight at around 180 pounds but that's just a guess. The engine has to move all the weight down the track so total weight or race weight is what counts.

The early cars are by far the lightest, the latter cars the heaviest. My car right now weighs in a 3010 lbs. I have a stripped rear interior, no engine/computer wiring, aluminum heads, aluminum intake/water pump, PS and alternator only with custom lightweight brackets, lightweight aluminum lower control arms, panhard, and lightweight torque arm. I have a very short exaust with a very light muffler. Nothing to drastic but its still street legal and setup for Auto-X racing.
