Help me pick a cam for my 327 combo
I'm upgrading to a hyd or solid roller cam and need help selecting the right cam for the job. I'm not too worried about making it more street friendly I just want everything that I have to work well with each other.
Here's what I have:
331ci 9.6.1 comp
TFS heads 195 64cc
HSR intake 950 commander
1 5/8 headers
58mm TB
3000 stall
3.73 gear
I might be upgrading to some compition port 68cc AFR 195 heads and I need to know what thickness head gasket should I go with to keep compression. Also need to know what size injectors would be best to go with this combo. I would like to have shift points go to 6200 or 6500 with a rev kit.

id keep your heads. they are good and you have them already.

I'm just looking for some different opinions on selecting a cam profile. I know that there are some top notch engines builders on this forum and I would like to here their opinions and suggestions.
As far as your comment on keeping untouched TFS heads vs Competition port AFR heads there is no comparison. An if you don't think so you need to do more homework.

Those are two very different cams can you give me reasons why you pick them? Which one do you think will give me more all out performance and the best 1/4 mile times. I will also be using 1.6 rocker arms with this combo.
I'm also upgrading my heads too those 195 AFR competition port that I won on ebay with 68cc. My compression is at 9.6.1 right now how much will these heads lower my compression from 64cc heads and will I be able to get that compression back with a thinner head gasket?

order your heads with the chamber size that you need. AFR will mill the heads accordingly. If the cr is 9.6:1 now, it would drop to 9.21:1 with 68cc heads.

the 327 makes it's power high in the rpm range,i would stick with a solid flat tappet or roller.i'd think something in the 228-234 @ .050 range with a 106 lobe center would be good to about 7200 rpm.you'll probably want a bit more stall for a really good launch.
also since those are aluminum heads, why not bump it to 10.5 compresion?keep the quench right about .040 and you should be fine on premium gas.
you didn't say anything about what pistons or tranny you are using.

I have flattop hyper pistons 700r4 tranny. I'm not trying to up my stall or compression thats why I'm asking what cam can I get that will work the best with what I have. I'm keeping my TFS heads on my combo and using my AFR heads on my nova instead. That why I won't have to mill them and I can keep my 9.6.1 compression on my 327.
