Question For You Camshaft Guys....
I have a 427sbc with 3000 stall
Old cam: 242/248 @50, .571/.577 @50, 110LSA
New Cam: 254/260 @50, .582/.588 @50 110LSA
Both cams are solid Rollers
With the old cam installed my car idled just like a stock 305, im wondering what you guys think the idle will be like with the new cam.

I have a 434 sb and I am using a little bigger cam. Don't ask how it sounds I have'nt heard the motor run yet still waiting for my cylinder heads. cam specs Lift I .688 E .672 Dur at .050 I 270 E280 On a 110 lobe sep. I used a cam simular to the new cam you are installing in a 380ci motor every thing looked close except the lift I .680 E .660 dur at .050 was the same and it was a 110 lobe sep also. It ran great very good on the street and had some hit to it.

Hay Nick the cam specs I gave you was made up for the dart 227s with 11 to 1 comp. Those heads flow some good #s And I think you would be better off with .650 lift but that is just me. If you have the cam maby switch to a 1.6 ratio rocker. How fast did this last combo go for you?

well i honestly cant tell you how fast i was able to go since i blew apart my rear end, and then the tranny went. My problem with going with that much lift is that i dont know if i have the piston to valve clearence. I also am worried about loosing a lot of compression if i go to that much lift, im only at 10.5:1 as it is.

The comp will be fine if you keep the dur down like you have. Piston to valve may be an issue as well as valve spring and trust me on this one buy the good spring if you are running on the street.

On a side note the 700 r4 is going to be hard on a tire if it stays together and If you ever have a chance and means at the track try a 950 hp carb on that pee wee. Are you going with a power adder ?

I like the holley and proform stuff but that is just me. And I think the 4.10 or 3.73 will work great with a 28 in tall tire use the torq.
