Should I run 5w30 or 10w30??

OK when my car comes out in the spring i'm gonna make the switch from pennzoil dino oil to mobil 1 synthetic. Since ive had the car, my dad has changed the oil 3 times (in only driving it 3k miles, haha)...and hes used 5w30 each time. He uses 5w30 in everything we own. I am wondering if i should switch to 10w30 or if there is basically no difference between the two. Also keep in mind my car is only driven from approximately april-october.

10W-30 will be fine.

My question is though, would there be any problem in switching to the 10w30, or would the transition be seamless?

5w30 vs. 10w30

whats the ambient temp you will be working at? since all numbers before the "W" denote a WINTER viscosity then both oils have the same viscosity ratining above 32 degrees (or 0 degrees respectively) both are a 30 weight oil at operating temperature.

thanks
J

April-October driving in PA, 10W-30 will be fine.

The engine won't care that you're switching from 5W-30.
