this is strange, TPS % is 0 and BLMs are 0.

Had a friend come over yesterday to burn a chip for him since his hardware was not working right, and he happened to have a scanner with him.
So we scanned my car for the hell of it.
TPS % read 0 no matter what I did with the gas pedal.
BLM's also read 0.
Car idles great, runs good, had only one code, Low TPS voltage.

My question is, if the TPS is bad, wouldn't the car run erratic or keep throwing codes all the time?
And are the BLM's supposed to read 0 if the TPS is not functioning?

I think it was an actron or something like that. My friend bought it at Autozone or Advance many years ago.
Has a cart slot at teh bottom and he had the GM 80 somthing to 95 cartridge plugged in.
Everything else looked good, just those 2 items were oddballs.

Well, my best bet is that scanner isn't fast enough to catch the TPS percentage change. Try holding the throttle for about 5-10 seconds in the same position then see if it gets a steady reading.

Eh?

Low TPS voltage code..

Says he doesn't see TPS % increase.

Check the voltage to the TPS with a volt meter. Your BLM's shouldn't be reading 0 either. Even in open loop, with a bunch of malfunctioning sensors the BLM's should be locked at 128.

What year & model is the car. It could be the scanner is not properly set for that vehicle. MAF TPI cars generally need a different reader than an SD TPI or TBI car. I know that I must use a different cable to read a MAF TPI car from an SD TPI or TBI car with my scan tool. Also, the scanner may just not be working properly. Try a different scanner.

I agree with Joe/anethses - No way you should get 0 for BLMs as that would definitely set an SES code. I think you'll find the TPS voltage is just fine.

Well, I tested the TPS voltage today and it was .554 and 4.34 and didn't show any dead spots while slowly moving the throttle (my fluke meter has a bar graph on the bottom of the screen).
We're going to rescan the car tomorrow when my friend picks up his tuning PC that I am fixing. He is also going to test his scanner on his 86 Camaro to see if the TPS and BLMs read correctly or not. He's got a decent motor in the car, sbc 400 bored .040 over, HSR intake, 3200 stall.
