Which carb intake for AFR190's and comp xr282hr cam?
I have a set of AFR 190's and a comp xr282hr-12 cam. Im adding them to my L98. It will be carbed, so I need a intake that will fit under my stock camaro hood. I will be running a Th350 with a 2800-3000 stall, Hedman LT headers, 3.73 gears and 26" tall tire. The car will be a street/strip weeked warrior.
Which intake should I go with?
Single planes that fit.
Weiand #7525 RPM range 2000-6500 (have in the garage)
Weiand #7530 RPM range 2800-7200
EDL Vic Jr #2975 RPM range 3500-8000
Carb height has to be 4.56" or lower.
Or should I go with a dual plane?
What do you guys suggest.

The Team-G I am running is 3.50ft and 4.50 rear. Im running a dropbase air cleaner and the hood insulator is gone. I also have work motor mounts. The air cleaner is against the hood.

I have a weiand x-celerator #7546 in the garage. It a tall intake that I could try to see if it clears. I will mock it up and see if I have any clearance.
I am running a summit brand drop base air cleaner. I thought it was 1 3/16 inch drop. I need to check for sure.
Im willing to do what it takes to get the right intake, just not change hoods.

Guys, I just confirmed what I thought was true- the RPM and the RPM Air Gap are the same height. Just the air gap is all hogged out underneath the carb/runners. Front/back height on all of them is 4.20"/5.25".
Plenty of people have run the RPM under a 3rd gen hood on a Camaro without too much problem but the Firebird hood is maybe even a little tighter.
The 7546 is taller than the RPM by a smidge
The 7530 is shorter than an RPM but I've always found it worked it's best with at least a 1" spacer..... which, of course, would make it taller than the RPM.
The Vic Jr. is about the same as a 7530 but I think it performs maybe a little better in most cases.
The 7525..... jeez, I may just have one of them in my garage, too! If it's the one I think it is, it's an OK manifold but nothing to write home about. I could compare it against a Performer RPM and see what the height difference is.

Yeah, Im running the 7525 with the stocl 92 L98 cam. I just dont think it does it justice. I dont know how it would do with the comp xr282hr-12 cam. With the 7525 and a drop base air cleaner and my holley 750, its real close. I even took off the hood insulator. I could change to a different drop base or shorter filter. The drop is suppose to be 1 3/16". I could also mill the choke tower off the carb for more air flow.
Is there really much perfomance differance between the performer rpm and the rpm air gap?

The air gap version does not have an exhaust crossover passage and the runners sit totally isolated from the hot oil splash of the lifter valley underneath (the air gap also has a chunk of the plenum divider removed for better high RPM breathing). It's probably worth something in terms of power but it'll also be grumiper driving around on a cold morning for the first 15 minutes or so with an ice-cold intake manifold. I doubt I'd use an air-gap on a true daily driver that has to get you to work at 6am in the middle of February. For a weekend fun car I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

It definatly wont be a daily driver, or even a cold weater driver.
I just mocked up the weiand #7546 with the demon carb and my dropbase. It might have fit with a 1/2" shorter filter.
Looks like I will probably end up selling both the Team-G and the x-celerator and get the RPM air-gap. Just need to see if my engine builder/head porter says and if he is interested in one of the intakes.
Oh yeah, the trans is out and the motor is in with just the motor mounts. Waiting on a cherry picker to pull the motor. I pulled a long day saturday.
