oil pressure drops when warms up
Ok I drove my car the school today and everything wa fine. I got my car back from the shop last night and they hooked all the sonsors i had unhook (most for reason known to myself) anyway, they hooked up my oil pressure sending unit, which we unhooked becuase it would just stay pegged at 60+ and we thought it was busted. anyway, on my way to scool my check engine light comes on... When i come to a stop my oil pressure is somewhere around 15... A few miles later as i am pulling into my parking spot, its almost below 10. Whats normal oil pressure when our cars are warmed up and just sitting there? Its a high flow oil pump too, which may have something to do with it, i dunno. Plz help me!

if you are going by your dash gauge its probably off.Have it checked on a mechanical gauge.10 -15lbs.should be fine though when i 1st got my iroc it was reading 30lbs. under load and 0 at idle.Ihad a mechanic look it over and he said it was pumping 10lbs. at idle and said as long as it had 5lbs. or moore i'd be fine. Now i,m not a mechanic just relaying what i was told .I ,ve street driven mine for 3yrs. now and run the 1/4 mile about 15 times no problems (knock on wood)

what weight oil are you using now ? i see no reason to go over 10w30.also discuss w/mechanic before changing to higher viscosity oil as it is harder to pump when cold.good luck but I don,t think you have a problem.

If your oil pressure really was ZERO (or way too low), you'd know it. It would sound like a washing machine.
If your car is running fine, and it's just your guage that's fidgety, I'd suspect that there's nothing wrong. But I'd check the pressure independent of your guage, just to be sure.
My sending unit was out for the longest time and mine was pegged at 60. I never worried about it. When it actually started working again was when I first thought about changing it.
