im talking about the metal cover the slave cylinder bolts to (i have a 1991 T5 BTW). when i go to bolt up the slave and the cover to the bellhousing the cover hits the floorboard and the bolt holes cant line up.
if i came down to it, i could always just do without the cover and bolt the slave up with nuts and bolts but this problem makes me think something else might be wrong...why in the hell is this not going abck on!?!?!
when i pulled the motor i left the bellhousing on the tranny and left the tranny in the car.
its like the tranny needs to shift to the pass side a little bit or it needs to rotate clockwise (when facing the car)...

How did you get the trans input shaft to go into the clutch correctly while dropping in an engine? It's not bad doing it this way with an auto, but can't comprehend how this is possible without screwing up something. It takes some wiggling just to stick a T5 back onto the bellhousing and line up the shaft into the clutch when the engine/bellhousing are bolted together in the car. I would guess the bellhousing isn't mounted flush to the engine.

thats what i thought but the belhousing is perfectly flush. if the input shaft isnt lined up properly there is no way the bellhousing can be flush but mine is.
im so lost...

suspicions confirmed...im a dumbass. you know three guys labored over that for two days. too many late nights.
the problem was the cover got bent at the end and wouldnt fit over the slave the way it was supposed to. so i use "common sense" and say well the cover should be there to protect the slave arm and fork...a quick rap with the hammer and it slipped on perfect
thanks, that had me confused
