ya ur right shoulda just spent 300$ more and got the eagle forged crank, oh well knowledge for the next engine. But now if i get it cryonic heat treated is the crank heated up or not cuz i was under ther impression that "cryo-" meant really really cold? Also is the crank heated during tuftriding? Cuz i would prefer to go with the method that doesnt heat it up or is least likely to throw the crank off so i dont have to worry about straightness since the cranks already been checked before it was reground and magnafluxed ( maybe im being paranoid). Either way ill look into the two methods and hope they dont cost an arma nd a leg or ill really be kicking my *** for not buying the Eagle.
Also what happens if i just install the cvrank as is, im not really considering it but am just curious what happens if i use it w/ no tuftride?

I recomend the Cryo treatment. its worth every penny.
Plan on $300+. Yes it should be checked.
Don't want to get into the fine art of CRYO heat treating but basicly it is heated mildly then cooled very cold, then allowed to return to room temp very slowly under exacting controled process. It works. Very effective. Its easy on the crank too.
Does more than just resurface harden the journals. It releives internal stress. makes a crank about as indestructable as it gets.
This is not something to loose sleep over. its just part of building up a motor that won't fall apart and let you down.

ok well today was the first day we strated working on our motor in class. I bought some milodon 4 bolt main caps and when we fitted them one side on each one hangs over the block about .02-.030. We were going to line hone the block but the supplier forgot to include the bushing i needed to tap for the outer bolts. But the main cap is kind of an issue since .03 is a lot to hone and my teacher said we cant hone it with an edgen hangin in the cylinder so were trying to figure that out right now. Were thinking about chamgeing the cap to make it flush where it meets the block and then line hone. We read the instructions from Milodon and they say the caps will probly need about .03 of honing. Well anyways were not sure what were gonna do yet well figure it out on thursday but its weird that only one side of all the caps hangs over a little. My teacher said i might have to get it line bored so i went and checked w/ PAW and a local machine shop and they cant line bore a block they only have hones so i need to find a machine shop w/ a line bore if we cant hone it. Anyways ill keep updating this as new info comes up
