Differance in Hydro Roller Brands?
I'm looking in doing some replacing, but unsure if I even need to. Lifters have about 90K on them. They work perfect (as far as I know) and thats witht he LPE219 cam with 560 lift. I dont know what the differance really is between the 250 buck comp lifters, 190 buck Crane lifters or the 104 buck Summit brand lifters.
We just rebuilt my GF's car motor to a 355 using an LPE213 cam and Summit Brand Hydro lifters. They seem good so far. (But we only have about 30 miles on the new motor)
I read that the Eaton corp makes the summit brand lifters and the crane lifters.
Should I stick with my stock lifters? Or dig in and get something else?

there's a good chance they were all made in the same place. the warrenty might be differant between them. i wouldn't replace them if i didn't know for sure they needed it.

How would I know if they needed to be replaced? When I put together the 383 last year they looked like they had no wear on them at all.

If you press down on the plunger, does it have a decent amount of resistance? Does the roller operate freely? Does the roller body have any scratches or whatnot on it?
If "Yes. Yes. No" are the answers, respectfully, then you can probably reuse the lifters.

Well i adjusted my rockers yesterday using no tools basically. I was able to start the motor , loosen rocker by hand till it ticked then tighten the polylock with hand until the tapping stopped. I was then able to go 1/2 turn using my hand only lol. I think that this is not tight enough since I had to use a 5/8 socket on my GFs car with new Hydro roller lifters..

Just for your guy's info. I called summit and It appears what I read was right. Summit Brand Lifters are accually re-labeled Cranes. The tech guy said going with summit would save me over 85 bucks since summit now dropped all their stuff 15%. Cranes were 189.99 and Summit Brand is $104.00
