1.5 or 1.6 roller rockers?
I was just wondering what would be the best rocker to use on a stock 350 but have full exhaust? Would this be a good idea, what gains could I get from it? The car is an 89 GTA 350 TPI. And what is the best cheapest roller rocker and the best roller rocker around?

if you want cheap i'll make you a set out of plywood for 20 dollars a set. if you want best i'd look at the steel full roller trunnion rockers from comp. if you have stock exhaust i'd consider headers and a better flowing exhaust before i bought rockers.

No I got headers and a cat back system it’s a full hooker system. Sorry for the confusion! The plywood ones sound awesome! And really cheap! haha jk!

My play dough roller rockers are lighter weight for higher rpms than those heavy plywood jobs!! Probably made of cheap 1/2 plywood too!! LOL!

My GF and I both run a set of Comp Pro Mag roller rockers. She uses the 1.52 and I run the 1.6's and they are great!

you gain lift and a very very slight gain in duration. I suspest it's very well possible that the it wouldn't run as well because, the computer would be sensing different charascteristics after the install.
I doubt it would make much of a difference though and many people have already did the mod on theres with out complaints.

Looking at cam specs for your engine I'd think the 1.6 rockers would make some difference. The L98 heads should handle up to a .460 valve lift, above that the ports and valve sizes would show very little flow increase with higher lift. One thing to watch is the push rods rubbing the slots in the heads as the higher lift rockers will relocate them just a bit. Your cam specs:
Stock: 350 AT 10066049* .415 .430 207 213 117.0 (116/-118)
1.6 rockers: .442 .459 210 216 117.0 (116/-118)
Be nice to do this mod and have the heads redone at the same time, three angle valve job and clean up the ports.

Duration stays the same at 207/213 but the lift moves to .430/.440 Assuming You take the stock lift with 1.5's divide then remultiply using 1.6.

Humm. 0.415 / 1.5 = 0.277
0.277 x 1.6 = 0.442
Is my Chinese calculator lying to me?
And most articles I've read say the duration is bumped about three degrees when measured at .050 off the seat.

Your right. WTF. I must have been smoking something yesterday at work.
Link up an article if you can or something about raising the duration. Its the first time I've heard about that.

I think that has been argued to death hasn't it? Is anyone running a split set of 1.5/1.6's. I have heard you gain the benefits of more air but the idle isn't effected as much. Any expreience out there?
