Different engine weights
Does anyone have a list, or any info on any and all V-6 / V-8 engines. I mostly ask because I'm looking for an engine for my sandrail, and want to keep weight down. But for thirdgen content, I'm sure other would like to know what options are out their for their car too.
I've heard something about an early 60's buick motor being alum. Anyone know?

yes the early 60's v-6 buick was an all aluminum engine and the stage-II 455 buicks had factory aluminum heads and intake. the lightest big block made was the 455 buick they weighted in at 510 lbs, the lighest small block is the 301 pontiac at about 320 lbs. v-6's i couldnt tell you off hand but the 3 listed are the lightest that i've ever seen that you could somewhat easily get ahold of.

The early 60s buick v8 was all aluminum. Buick gave up on the design though. The design was then bought by Land Rover. It's the same basic design they're using today. Not sure what they changed(ie bellhousing design etc).
