TBI to TPI swap.
I was just wondering what parts are need to do a tpi swap. My uncle is junking his old Camaro and I told him to hold off until I know what parts are needed. I would switch the engines but his is also 305 so theres no point to do that. Thanks for any help.

I'm suprised that you would have to change the fuel pump though. I would of thought that the output of the pump would be the same. (just my thoughts)

maybe they could've used the stronger TPI pump for both
but then you'd have a pretty hard working fuel regulator that would probably go out all the time

A TBI pump is done at roughly 16 PSI, depending on the condition, age, etc. Running it over 15 PSI for any length of time will drastically shorten its life due to increased current draw across the brushes.
A TPI pump should have been put in these cars from the begining, but the TBI style pump was cheaper. If a TPI pump was overkill, why would they use it? GM should have run lots of fuel pressure on the TBI's for better atomization, better power, and better mileage. The Acceleration Enrichment would have been much stronger and response would have been better.
The regulator will not be overworked, unless you add a pump that can just put out too much volume. A few have had issues with the Walbro 255 on a TBI, most have not. Porting the return passageways alleviates this situation.
Long story short the TBI pump will not feed the TPI.
Why switch to TPI anyway? Sell the system on Ebay, get your bucks, then put the money where it counts. Improving the exhaust, bigger cam, replace the heads or port them to make them flow better, change to a projection intake, 454 TBI, computer tuning, etc.
