I noticed today that my Gas Tank is indeed leaking. This morning I took my car out to the front of my Garage, There is a steap ramp (60-50 degree) leading to the garage, I parked the Camaro there. After five minutes of parking it there I notice a smell of strong gas.. and looked at my gas cap and there was no gas leakage, then I looked under the rear drivers side and found a puddle of Gas and still dripping!! !!!!! I then panicked and conteplated about turning my car on because it was dripping from the gas tank to this metal sheet metal that seprates the gas tank from the muffler to exhausht pipe I thought the heat would cause some sort of spark and ignite it and blow me up like a Iraqui. So I had to risk it and turn it on and move it forward. It then stopped leaking. now im worried it has never done this before!! Here are some of the causes im thinkingPLEASE ANYONE CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG!!

1. Last Night I filled the gas tank up, but when the pump stopped to indicate tank was full, I pumped it a few more times

2. The Way the Camaro was parked at a angle which allowed the gas to seap through..??

THE FUEL FILLER NECK SOLDER JOINT CAN DEVELOP CRACKS OR PIN HOLE LEAKS, WHICH DOES NOT COMPLY WITH FMVSS NO. 301, "FUEL SYSTEM INTEGRITY." THE CRACKS AND HOLES CAN ALLOW FUEL VAPOR AND FUEL LEAKAGE.

Consequence:
CONSEQUENCE OF NON-COMPLIANCE: GASOLINE VAPORS AND FUEL LEAKS CAN RESULT IN A FIRE IF EXPOSED TO A SOURCE OF IGNITION.

Remedy:
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY AND REPLACE THOSE WHICH EXHIBIT THE CRACKS OR PIN HOLE LEAKS.
