Best 400 SBC aftermarket block

Which aftermarket block, is best suited to be turned into a 377 with twin turbos and a little shot of juice. In this i mean, which will last the longest.

if you're going to buy an aftermarket or even GMPP block why limit it to 377cid? there is a new aftermarket block and i can't think who makes it, 4.125 bore i think with room to go lot bigger and i believe can accept a 3.5 or larger crank.

Ede, firstoff thanks for the reply.
Second, i was looking to build "the ultimate 1/4 autox turbo vehichle" That being said.
I was looking at a 400 destroked to 377 and twinturbos. If you had money to spend... And wanted something unique, what would you do?
Basically, what im gunning for is Something Unique and fun to drive... I want to swap a 6-speed in later aswell. These things considered and my limited knowledge in this area (and all others for that matter ) What would you suggest /do

well since you ask what i'd do if i wanted something a little differant i'd build a v6 and put it in a drag car, never mind i already did that. then i'd build a small v8 something in the area of 275 to 310 cid, large bore short stroke and run it in NHRA comp eliminator class, most likely B or C/SM or B, C, or D/EA.

world products makes a new block that can be safely boredd to 4.155 and a stroke of 3.875(around 420/421cu.in.)that's without clearancing the block(it's all a drop in)nowifyou wanted to clearance thheblock i believe a 4.00in. crank will fit with no problems.keep in mind that by going to a 377 you'll need som serious gears(4.10's or 4.56's)to wind that thing to where you'll see the benefits of destroking the 400.also durability issues arise because as of now the only place to get a 350 crank made with the larger (2.65)main journals of a 400 is lunati and be prpared to spend some serious cash to have them specially make(usually from billet)it.you want something different call world for their 415 or lpe for his 427 small block kits both are different and will be better suited for your car which i'm assuming is at least 3300lbs.(providing you haven't gutted it)you'll get that car moving off the line better with a little more low end tourqe than to have to wind that 377 to 5000 and side stepping that clutch hoping your rear holds up.all in all it's a personal choice if you had a vega weighing 2800lbs. than the 377 would really shine but for 3rd gens build for tourqe and the hp will take care of itself.....................

To go fast in autocross, you need good low rpm torque and throttle response. Not real easy on a TT motor. Try to take out some of the

and go for less weight and better balance.

Start with an aluminum block (that will take 4K out of your budget right there) and set it back about 1inch in the car. You could build it stock and it would be extreemely fast.

I know someone that put a GN 3.8 motor in a thirdgen and it is very fast on the autocross course.

dart, world products, or GMPP

personal choice

all can be bored to about 4.200 except the GMPP

all except a 4" stroke crank too

so you can make 427" small blocks and 434" too
