350 swap

Thinking about putting a 4bolt 350 out of an 80 1 ton in my 87 firebird. Do our cars use a vehicle specific oil pan? Also what else do I need to change? Knock sensor? My car is an LG4 and I'm going to keep all the stock carb etc.

Also what compression ratio will work with the stock distributor and computer?

You're going to have to get a different flywheel.

Flywheel and elongation of intake manifold bolt holes. Do yourself a favor and buy a gasket kit to throw on it before you put it in the bird. They make a one piece oil-pan gasket that would be a good idea. A cam might not be a bad idea, so a timing chain ... why not an oil pump

If it goes in the bird it will be brand new. I've been pricing parts for rebuilding it or the birds 305 and am coming to the conclusion its getting the 350. Although I may put the 350 in my truck and take the 327 out of that to put in the bird. Havent decided. I'm trying to figure out just what all I may have to buy for the 350 to make it fit. I need both rigs running and I can have the 350 rebuilt and ready so I can swap in 1 weekend.
