What cam works good with ZZ4 heads ?
I need a bigger cam to make any decent power. I'm running the stock ZZ4 cam right now and my engie is pretty weak... low 14s
With a high flowing TPI and those heads, will one of the more agressive roller grinds from CompCams work okay ? I was thinking something like a 276HR-14 or even a 290HR-12 ?
The first one has 220/230 duration and 510/510 lift and the second one is 230/244 510/540. I will be getting some Edelbrock RPM springs and a T5 installed next week and I'd like to change the cam also. Any suggestions ? (except the LT4 hot cam

1991 Z28 5.7 TPI
ZZ4 heads, ZZ4 cam, Harland Sharp roller rockers, Accel base, SLP siamesed runners, 52MM SLP Throttle Body, Hooker Headers, Flowmaster catback, MSD6A ignition, Home made ramair system, 2500 stall, bullet proof 700R4, aluminum driveshaft...
Soon to be installed. WC T5 !

Buddy here has ZZ9 w/1.6 roller rockers in his ZZ3, Big Mouth intake, runners, ported plenum, 58cc TB. But, he had the heads CNC ported and runners to intake valves extrude honed. Also custom chip.
He just passed our dyno emissions test with flying colors a couple of months ago.

Instead of paying alot more for the zz9 (TPIS, home of high prices) try the HOT cam. You'll get more on top, although the low and midrange for the zz cams isn't anything to dismiss on a street car.

I think you need to figure out whats wrong with your car first, before you spend more money trying to go faster. You should be way faster than low 14's with those mods. I went low 14's with just SLP headers, 3" exhaust, 1.6 roller rockers, and free mods on a basic 350.
I went 13.25 @ 107.18 with a ZZ4 cam, ported ZZ4 heads, ported stock TPI intake, SLP 1 5/8" headers, 3" exhaust, free mods, and drag radials. You've got a rebuilt automatic and a torque converter. What tires do you have? Are you running at altitude? Have you had your car dynoed? Something has to be wrong, find out what it is...

Well my heads arent ported :/ The car will occasionaly do a 13.9 at about 104-105. These are G-Tech times. I just dont see how it can get much quicker than that with a pretty much stock cam. I'm sure with the 5 speed swap I'll probably gain a few more tenths since 3rd gear is a lot stronger in a T5. I also live in Nevada which is a little higher up then CA. About 2200 feet I believe ?
