edelbrock intake sitting crooked?

Ive got my 383 bout done, and I put the intake on the other night. I was just sittin here lookin at it and I noticed that, at least at the carb opening, the front of the intake sits lower than the rear. Has anyone else noticed this? It doesnt look like the gaskets mis-aligned or theres anything pinned underneath the rear of the intake. Weird ***

They make them that way.

Since most car hoods slope upward from front to rear, it's a clearance thing, I'd guess.

ya, true. I started thinking too, arent most motors tilted back a little for drivline angles and such? Maybe another explination, I still have never noticed that before though.

The manifold carb pad is angled about 4degrees to the motors crank centerline. On most GM chassis the motor sits in the car on about the same angle. So when in the car the carb sits parrallel to the ground. Some other intakes like the Edelbrock Super vic do not have a angled carb pad.
Most of the street manifolds do.

I don't know about being tilted back, but some engines are more toward one side than the other for either clearance reasons (master cylinder/brake booster, steering box, etc) or for driver comfort reasons.

But I suppose that could be true.

Another reason may be because of a car's natural tendency to "lift" the front end while accelerating?

So when in the car the carb sits parrallel to the ground.
Where's my level?
