Q: Absolute minimum ring-gap on Silv-O-Lite Hyper pistons?
Hello all.
I am currently rebuilding my '87 L98 350. I wont go into all the details, for I have a very narrow question - What is the Absolute minimum ring-gap to run on the top compression rings on my Silv's Hyper +.030 350 pistons? I have them filed to .022, and I have heard that this is enough; the minimum safe gap. Also, I have the middle rings gapped at .016, but I have been told this is fine. Thoughts on this? Advice? Anything is appreciated!

the most recent end gap number I have seen is .0065 inch for each inch of bore on street motors normally aspirated. That would make a .030 over 350 about .026" top gap. I think you can probably go .023 or .024 but i would not go much less than that.

i think the last set i used said 40% over factory end gaps for the top ring.
