Replacing Rear Main Seal
How difficult is it to do in the driveway? I would much rather spend $20 on the seal and do it my self than who knows how much a garage would charge. From what I understand I would have to unbolt the trans, torque conv., flywheel, and then I should be able to get to it from there, right?

Is it a one or two peice seal . The one peice has to have the pan and rear main bearing cap removed to complet . Leaving your motor open to the elaments in the driveway . I have done the one peice in a 8 hour day but in a clean garage on stands .

It's a one piece seal...knew I shoulda replaced it when I was building the motor, the one thing I didn't use a new part on was the rear seal...worked fine for 2 years. Oh well, looks like I'll call the shop cause I really don't feel like dealing with the underside of this car right now.

Dont feel bad when I swapet my motor I only changed one motor mount on the toquec side . That was 7 years ago and it is allway's in the back of my mind. If you have some nice stand's and flat smooth drive way you can do it .Get the car up as high as you can(safely) and make an adapter plate to acomadate your floor jack . Come at it with the jack handel tords the rear and strap the tranny to it . One man job tough , two people a breeze .
Steve take a look at the distributor seal . That is if you have not look'et thier yet .
