Rocker Arms for AFR Heads

Hello to all. I am sorry if this is a stupid question. I have done searches and have not found my answer. I have AFR 180cc Heads. I thought that I could just reuse my old stock stamped GM rocker Arms. I have been measuring the pushrod length and I noticed that the rocker arms don't seem to be compatible with the springs. The rocker arms seem to rub on the springs. I need to know, are either the self aligning or non-self aligning rocker arms are compatible with 1.450 Springs.

Yeah I'm a little dumb when it comes to engine specs, But I can fix most problems with our cars by listening to them, well, most of the time.

Soon to be OneBadZ4U again!!!!!

look in summit, they will say what springs they clear.

self aligning are for if you don't use the guide plates

narrow body are for the center bolt valve covers

roller rockers seem to make more noise.

hope this helps

Sorry bro, that didn't answer my question. I know the diff between self and non. Just want to know if stock may work. I looked in summit paper catalog, no good info. I know what I could buy, but I don't want to buy anything, yet. Thanks Bro.

yes either SA or non SA rockers will work with that diameter spring. you want to match your rocker to your rocker locating system

I see where my question got screwed up. I meant, are the stock GM stamped SA or Non SA rocker arms compatible with 1.450 Springs? or do I have to buy new rocker arms.

I didn't mean to imply what everybody has already concluded from my question. My bad.

they should be, with the correct geometry, sometimes you have to remove a little metal from the bottom of roller rockers for clearance. there's a very good chance you ought to go aftermarket for your rockers

You should consider an aftermarket set even if you can make the stockers work. If you care, I've got a set of the wide body harlan sharps with centerbolt valve covers the I just had to modify to make them fit. I like the idea of a bit beefier rocker. I've also use the Crane Gold rockers, and Scorpion wide and narrow bodies on AFR heads. Always have used non SA and guideplates.

well what I was saying is the will tell you what springs they clear. which is what you asked.

here are aftermarket stamped rockers http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...h.asp&x=24&y=8

the roller rockers are listed the same way

well, looks like the page did not save but, you get the idea if you go through a few pages most say the max spring size
