Removing the Auto Shift ****

How?

Yeah, I guess I'm an idiot... I have a 700R4 with the leather-wrapped shift **** and black button on top. How does it come off?

By the way, I had to replace my heater core on Saturday. Who in the world would design a car that you have to drop the steering column and pull the dash from the cowl to take out the stupid heater core. Needless to say, I had a bad day on Saturday.

For the **** there should be a black pin toward the front of the car that holds it in place. You might need a screwdriver or something to get it off.
Sorry to hear about the heater core, all I had to do was remove a black panel under the dash, took about 30 mins.

Mark,

Thanks. I'll have a look at the shifter when I get home from work.

As far as the heater core goes, there were two screws on the top of the plastic housing that could only be accessed by pulling the dash away from the cowl/firewall. Needless to say, these scews were NOT reinstalled.

The Haynes manual said that I had to do all of this and I didn't believe them until I got started. What a nightmare!
