cowl hood, strut tower brace and ES motor mounts dont mix
I put a new engine in my 91z28 and added Energy Suspension motor mounts and now the engine sits a lot higher then normal. I had to have 1/2 inch spacers made for the Hotchkis strut tower brace so it wouldnt hit the plenum and now I just put my Harwood 2 1/2 inch cowl hood on and i cant even close it because it hits the brackets for the strut tower brace. anybody have the problem. I may have to notch out 2 square holes on the underside of the hood to get it to shut. dont worry it hits on a lower reinforcement area for the hood so there wont be 2 holes in the hood.

i have the es poly mounts in my car. there is no way they'd work or fit other than stock size. are you running aftermarket tpi? as for the hood it may not of been made to clear a STB since factory cars don't have one.

ede, he sounds like he already had the STB/hood since he is making a comparitive statment. I have the same STB (not installed yet, but i have test fit) and it should definitely have the clearance under the plenum, as well as hood clearance as stock it dfoesn't go above the strut caps. He put spacres under the STB to clear the plenum, and now it hits the hood.
Hmm, been a while since i played with motor mounts. Is it possible that you got the wrong ones? I think chevy trucks use a similar design but are taller. Or, is it possible to put them on upside down to normal forcing the through bolts to be higher?

it's been a while since i put in the es poly mounts but i was thinking there is a tab or something that makes them only work one way and the clam shell halves mate back upand fit flush together. it could happem that the mount halves don't fit tightly and still the bolts to the k member tighten up without allowing the engine to fully settle in place.

i had a slight problem with the install of my STB it did rub on the hood a little pushed up on it when it was closed i removed one of the black clips that hold the hood insulation on and adjusted the bumpers in the nose near the latch Cured!
