Spun Bearing?

What does it mean when a car has spun a bearing? Will the crank shaft have to be ground, or get a new one? Will all I have to do is take the engine out and replace them? I want to buy this really nice but It has a spun bearing and I was just wondering how much work needs to be done. Is there anything also associated that goes with a spun bearing? Knocking etc?

depending on how much damage the spun bearing has caused, you may have to take out the block and crankshaft and get them machined. then you will need to get new bearings and just reassemble. could be less damaged to where you only have to put new bearings in, but when a bearing gets spun, it usually causes some damage pretty fast

if you spin a main you need a new block. it is what it sounds like ,the bearing spins instead of staying where it should. since there is no oiling between the bearing and block or rod the part gets trashed.
