Uhh, what's the point of VATS if i can start my car with no key??
I just went out to the car and turned the key to ON, then i pulled the key out and I started it right up. How could it start without resistance from the key???

Doh! If you already turned it ON then you dont need the key anymore. VATS has done its job alraedy. My car does the same thing!

So all VATS does is let you unlock the cylinder?? Then how come some people have trouble starting when there is a VATS malfunction??????

VATS has nothing to do with turning the plug inside the cylinder. VATS loops the the electrical current back to the computer telling it which value resister pellet you have in your key(there are 15 different values) You have to have the right resister pellet carrying the correct ammount of ohms for the car to start. You could have a key that will turn the the cylinder in the on position but if the ohms are different the car won't start. And i think the fuel pump get disabled for 4 minutes. The first thing to do if the VATS is not working is try cleaning the resister pellet with some rubbing alcohol

because as soon as turn it to the ON postion then it does what it is supposed to do, power the fuel pump and to the injectors. all that turning the key to START does it turn over the starter.
