Those are lightweight (crack prone) 70's smog heads that came on 350's and some 400's. The feature 75-76cc chambers. The are not very good for performance because of this.

What motor are they on, not your 305 i hope?

Not if you want to run pump gas, and huge dome pistons.

how about somewhere in the 9 range just want to get a little more power and a bigger cam and i know the 8.1 compression aint going to cut it.

How do you plan on bumping the compression up. The only way really is new pistons. Or tons of head milling.

9.0-9.3 compression should be fine on pump gas.

I don't think its really gonna be worth trying to raise the compression with those heads. It would be better to just find some 64cc chamber 35 heads if you want to raise the compression.

yeah i was going to get the rebuild kit with new pistons since i need to put new rings in it i prolly just get the kit without the pistons and get some good aftermarket heads later. what would be a good cam to use right now for it. the motor had roller lifters on it when i got it not sure witch brand or ratio and im going to pull the cam tommaro to see if its the stocker the motors been rebuilt befor you can see the hone marks in the cylinders. the rocker says E 150 on the top

So does it have roller rockers and roller lifters?

Why do you need new rings?

I'd say just find some 64cc heads for $100-150 swap those on, add a comp XE262 cam and leave the rest alone.

You probably have around 150 hp. The 993 heads are a little better then the 882 but not by much. They have 74-75cc chambers, and have a light heavier casting. Neither are considered anywhere close to performance heads. Get rid of them asap, and get some 64cc heads, your compression will thankyou. Or if the budget allows get some aftermarket heads.

Probably not all the world heads suck out of the box, they really require porting to even be worth running. But once you pay for that if you can't do it yourself your up there in some really good heads. I'd definitely go with something else.

Edelbrock makes some decent aluminum heads for less than $1000. But i would suggest some Dart Iron Eagles or something around there.

World Product heads suck out of the box?? lol.. ME Leigh, you are completely wrong.. How many times have you run them?? This is clearly misinformation.

You shouldnt be messing with peoples money like that, thier Sportsman II's are easily good for 12's on a 350.

Actually you are kinda right they are decent, my statement was more aimed towards the S/R and S/R Torquer heads. But the Sportman II's still don't flow anywhere near a "good" head. They only flow 240cfm out of the box max.
