What are the different sensors?

Im currently swapping a lot of parts on my '86 305TPI, and during the teardown I've found a lot of sensors around the engine - but Im not confident which one is what, could someone help me out some?

1. Drivers side head (water temp?)
2. Pass. side by starter (knock sensor?)
3. Front of intake, small
4. Front of intake bigger
5. On top of intake (under plenum) near the center

I'd appreciate inputs on which is what, and also if any/all of these should be replaced while I have them out anyways.

Thanks a lot!

1. Drivers side head (water temp?)

Yep, for the temp gauge.

2. Pass. side by starter (knock sensor?)

Hmmn, my KS is hidden between the block and the control arm, kinda under the 4 and 6 plugs, IIRC.

3. Front of intake, small
4. Front of intake bigger

Ones the CTS (for the ECM) other is the ColdStart valve sensor. I've an '89, so can't tell ya which is which for sure, and my '87 intake is buried in the shop.

5. On top of intake (under plenum) near the center

I'm thinking the EGR temp sensor.

Probably a good time to replace the EGR stuff (solenoid, valve, sensor), everything else you can easily get to later, if needed.

#5 Is The MAT Sensor. Manifold Air Temperture Sensor.

#5 is probably the EGR or the EGR temp sensor. He said it was on the intake under the plenum not on the plenum.

1. Water temp sensor for the gauge, NOT the ECM

2. Knock sensor, (near the oil pan rail?)

3. Front of intake, small = CTS, Coolant temperature sensor for the ECM

4. Front of intake bigger = Cold Start injector sensor/timer NOT for the ECM but to a power wire, then to the 9th injector between the tubes on the drivers side.

5. On top of intake (under plenum) near the center = One wire = EGR temperature sensor, two wires plugged upside down = MAT Manifold temperature sensor.

That's my *guesses* Hope this helps.
