Smoke at startup....
This motor has less than 200 miles on it. Every time I start the thing up initialy usually not dependent on the amount of time its been sitting, the thing puffs a cloud of what looks like blue (oil) smoke. I had extensive head work done by a very qualified shop... So could this be part of the break in as the valve seals havnt set. Or Im also running very lean having just fixed my pressure regulator today.... Could extra fuel after killing the motor dieseling which the manual cites as well... be causing the smoke?????

I've never heard of having to break in the valve guides/seals. Has it done it ever since the engine was brand new, or is it a problem which has gotten worse? If it was there all along then I'd say the shop screwed something up; everyone makes mistakes sometimes. Or if it's getting worse, then maybe your valvetrain geometry is off. If it's screwed up it'll wear your guides. I don't know how fast though. Input guys?

Im very curious.... Im just looking for a variety of input here I plan on taking it out to the machinists once the motor is running well and I have some miles on it (we'll see if it still does it) Its not but for literally a second doesnt linger much at all although at night I can sometimes see myself driving through it with the headlights after backing out. Im trying not to get to scared... Iv thought time and time again that that machine shop had messed up on the cam timing among other things... and its always ended up being my fault. I dont think it has anything to do with it, but would a floating valve, basically a too tight rocker cause the oil?? I dont know here Im looking for opinions... personally I hope its FUEL related since thats where most my problems seem to currently lie...

Hmmm... a floating valve would leave a cylinder without compression, so you'd be running on 7 cylinders -- pretty rough. And I imagine you'd have combustion in either the intake or your headers/manifolds.
