Ignition Gremlins VERY NASTY STUFF
OK, look, I'm at wits end. Hopefully someone can shine some insight here...
I had some worn out ignition components. So I changed out the coil, module and capacitor. Of course all of them new.
Disconnected the vac advance, timed the car, hooked it back up and went for a drive. Car is timed at 10*, which is about all I can get without detonation.
Car has good low end power. I get to a spot where I can get my foot in it a little bit, and everybody knows what it feels like when you expect to be leaning back and you slump forward........it sucks.
It felt like the vac advance was disconnected. It was NOT. I didn't actually have to change the timing, just check it. Checked it when I got home...still 10*. Car is hesitating badly above say 3000 rpm.....even had a little backfire through the carb when I got home and reved it up..... It was much better before I changed the parts for new parts.
What is going on here? Are the parts faulty or did I miss something?

Sounds like you're running lean, or really retarded (no pun intended). Which leads me to say, check all your vac lines! Hope this helps ya out a little.
