Heres the deal..Haveing a custom engine built for my bird, building a 350 to handle 10-12 psi of boost.
Anyway, yesterday the performance shop told me that we are going to use the eagle rotating kit, I said ok, came home did some research and found that eagle makes their cranks and rods are precision forged in CHINA and is precision sized and machined in the great USA...
I don’t know if I like this China Steel.....just my opinion...
Havent read or talked to anybody at Cola that there cranks are 100% made in USA.
I'm not trying to political here...

Pretty much all of the cheap cranks these days from from Scat, Eagle, etc. are cast or forged in China and finished domestically.
Cola apparently forges theirs in the US, but they're not cheap cranks.

if you're building an engine, do you really want one of the most important pieces made in china? Lunati are so supposed to be good, not exactly cheap though

The Domestic steel industry no longer makes the grades and blanks that are required for cranks and intakes here :-)
Guy from Scat wrote a long letter to Hotr Rod or the like shedding some lite and among other things all the stuff the Chinese have stolen and sold as their own(including the entire Scat line) and on and on.
They no longer have any domestic suppliers for the blanks. So they get a chunk of billet steel or the what not from China and then it is machined and quality tested here.

I've been running a scat 9000 in my 383 for over two years now. Including a 2600 mile trip from Ft. Bragg, NC to Boise, ID at around 4300rpm, 14-16 hours a day for three days. Needless to say I have no complaints.

I'm all for buying American, being an American steel worker, union, and damn proud of it.Unfortunately,a person has to buy what they can afford, and we're not talking about an extra $50 for American parts. While I really respect your desire and pride in buying American,I think it will cost more than it's worth.

I agree, I'm all for buying america. I would much rather have a lunati sledgehammer crank, but $799 vs. $289. Guess which one I'm gonna go with.

really sucks to think about, doesn't it?It's scary to think my whole industry could go to China, but it's a real concern.
