Can I just use silicone to make the gasket for my oilpan? I'm 0-2 on getting the stupid gasket to seal properly, and want to stop the figgin leak.

No, not if you mean "don't use a gasket, and silicone only". Where's it leaking at? You do need to lay it on somewhat thick where the pieces join in the "corners".
You're not over tightening are you? The torque required to seal is pretty low, once you see the gasket "squish" out, it's usually too tight.
You can run a bead on both sides of the gasket, makes a mess to try an clean when you remove it...but if it seals and doesn't leak...it'll be a looong time before you pull it again

IIRC you can get one piece oil pan gaskets for just about any year SBC. They are trouble free.
Definately don't just use silicone.

you can use just silicone, but it will leak. i'd recomend using just the one piece gasket. it's available from autozone and other places like it. use no silicone with that.
